Meet Kenneth Chap

While exploring computer science through a Google Coursera+ program at Lowell High, Kenneth Chap saw a gap, many of his classmates didn’t feel ready to dive in. So, during his sophomore year, he co-founded The Programming Initiative, a student-led program designed to make coding more accessible and less intimidating. Through his leadership, dozens of students gained hands-on skills, and the program continues today, with over 75 students enrolled. Now a first-generation student at MIT, Kenneth is studying Computer Science, interning at PayPal, and competing in national hacking competitions.
